I am a shameless podcast addict. I love the ability to be walking somewhere, working or completing other tasks whilst still listening, learning & laughing. So, here’s some of the best 5 fitness & wellbeing podcasts I’ve found over the last decade for you to enjoy too.
1. ‘High Performance’ – This one does what it says on the tin, interviewing the world’s best high-performance sportsman, entrepreneurs & other remarkable people. They discover how they became great, what they did right (or wrong) & how we can use elements of their journey to become the best version of ourselves.
2. ‘The Richard Nicholls Podcast’ – This is my favourite mental wellbeing & self-growth podcast of all time, led by psychotherapist & author Richard Nicholls. Richard has risen to fame through this podcast, delivering 15 minute shorts on a range of topics from the dark side of our mind & how to understand it, to how to help motivate yourself or navigate a social situation. If you only take one from this list, this should be it!
3. ‘Just One Thing’ – Lots of you will be well aware of this heavyweight of the health podcast world. Michael Mosely goes through some of the nation’s most sought-after health claims by chatting with experts, the public & giving it a go himself. One of those podcasts you didn’t know you needed until you listen to it, & a rare gem from the BBC.
4. ‘A Thorough Examination’ – TV health & fitness MD/PhD’s, Chris & Xand VanTulleken use each other as guineapigs to help us learn about fitness, nutrition & longevity with the help of fellow doctors & experts in the field of fitness.
5. ‘The James Smith Podcast’ – A more hardcore gym podcast from the trusted PT influencer James Smith. Discussing training methods & amazing stories, with guest appearances from Olympians & other PT heavyweights. Training related on the surface, with a certain amount of digging deeper into other wellbeing topics too. One for the more serious gym-goer.
